Hellraiser Concept Art: Pinhead

I did a few rounds of concept art for Hellraiser(2022) with David Bruckner. If I had to pick an IP to take a swing at, this would have been in the top 3. Big thanks to David for bringing me on to this project and letting me play with his toys.

The really fleshy direction for Pinhead was in play really early, but I wanted to poke around all the possible ideas to make sure we had eyes on all of them before everything was settled. It's worth noting that this was before the part was cast, so there wasn't an opportunity to consider Jamie Clayton's face or body type.

I'm hoping it comes through in these paintings, I was trying to make Pinhead as sexy as possible while also being as gross as possible. Working to integrate deeply opposing traits is always so much fun and why I find this character so compelling.
